Touring on two wheels isn’t one-size-fits-all, and for me, that truth’s been forged over thousands of miles and more than one machine. This is where you’ll meet the bikes that built Two-Lane Routes, starting with my first motorcycle that took me deep into Europe’s backroads, and now the next chapter: a ride built for even bigger miles.
The Current Ride: Harley-Davidson 2025 Low Rider ST (Midnight Firestorm)
After years of riding and building out the ultimate touring setup, the next chapter rolled in with ghost flames and a bit more bite. Say hello to the new machine behind the miles: a 2025 Harley-Davidson Low Rider ST in Midnight Firestorm.
It’s still got that aggressive West Coast stance and fairing, and low-slung saddlebags, but this one comes packing the 117 High Output V-Twin, and it shows. More growl, retuned rear suspension, sharper throttle response, and a factory analog speedo that keeps things old-school where it matters.
And yeah, we all know those ghost flames make it faster. It’s just science.
This bike was built to eat highway miles and stay nimble on mountain curves, just how I like it. You’ll see it loaded down, exploring two-lanes, and parked at every scenic overlook on the map.
Key Highlights:
117 High Output V-Twin, now pushing 114 hp

The one that started it all.
This was my first motorcycle, the one that turned a long-standing daydream into something real.
I’ve been tempted by the idea of the open road for as long as I can remember, but choosing that first bike? That was no small decision. Out of the sea of options, one model kept pulling me in: the Harley-Davidson Low Rider ST.
And yeah, I think that 10-year-old version of me - the one playing with her Lego Harley-Davidson Softail - would be pretty damn proud.
I wanted a bike that could handle both throttle-happy weekends and long-haul travel. Something that felt just as solid splitting lanes in the city as it did tearing through backroads with full bags. The Softail platform gave me that. The comfort, the handling, the way it carved through curves, it all shaped how I ride now.
This bike took me across borders, through storms, and into stories I still haven’t written down. It was pieced together with equal parts trial and obsession, and over time, it became more than just a ride.
Special thanks to the team at Silver Lake Harley-Davidson of Geel for making that first purchase a smooth one, and for getting every part I wanted installed without a hitch.
